8 oz. latte | Guatemala pour-over
I don’t know why it took me to so long to go check out this place after all the good things I have heard. To begin with, their concentration on providing 100% fair trade and organic beans is a important focus, especially in a time where the price of coffee is skyrocketing. They are able to trade directly with farmers and eliminate any middle man business being made off the various farms. They deliver all of their coffee to local business and restaurants via bicycle, which shows their dedication to eco-friendly practices. The latte that I had today was delicious. I have enjoyed their espresso at Common Roots Cafe many times before and it definitely shined through in this drink. It was also the first time a shop in Minneapolis have served their latte to me with a “Pepparkakor chip” which is a Scandinavian ginger snap. It was a nice little treat to dip in the latte. I also treated myself to a pour over of their Guatemala light roast and it was a very crisp and bright coffee. Lately, I have been enjoying picking up the flavors in coffees that have a strong citrus and lemon kick. I seem to pick up the strongest citrus flavors towards the middle of of my cup. Something that is definitely apparent, and what I am starting to notice more, is how the different flavors can pop as the temperature of the coffee changes. Be sure to try the next time you have a good cup in front of you to point some of these out.
